Give your child confidence to succeed with tailored tuition from an expert tutor!

About me:

I am Becky Corden, a fully qualified primary teacher with over 20 years experience teaching children aged 3-11 in Kent Schools.

I have gained leadership skills and expertise as a  Maths Lead Teacher, NQT/Student teacher mentor and Key Stage Leader alongside my class teaching roles.

Alongside my work as a teacher and  private tutor, I write Maths, English, and 11 plus materials for a range of publishers and learning platforms including:
  • Pearson UK
  • Atom Learning
  • Mangahigh.com
  • Edplace.com
  • Prime Press (Egypt)
  • Nagwa
  • Melody Publishing
  • Eleven Plus Exams

Private Tuition:

I am dedicated to ensuring that your child makes excellent progress and achieves their potential. I pride myself in helping children build skills and develop a resilient attitude to learning.

Every session is tailor built for your child, to ensure they make excellent and sustained progress, while gaining confidence along the way.

I have a wealth of classroom experience in EYFS, Key Stage 1 and 2 and can offer tuition in Maths, English, Reasoning and Exam Technique.

I specialise in tuition for the Kent Test and 11+.

I offer pre 11+ assessments with age standardised scores before regular tuition begins.

Holiday tuition, mock 11+ exam and 11+ revision workshops are also available.

Learning environment and parental involvement:

Situated near Hildenborough in Kent, I run revision courses and mock exams for year 5 students in the school holidays as well as 1:1 eleven plus tuition.

For year 5 students, I offer a choice of 100% online and 'hybrid'* 1:1 tuition weekly in term time as well as on an adhoc/holidays only basis.

Year 4s can attend 1:1 sessions in the holidays to build up to tuition for year 5 weekly attendance.

*'Hybrid' tuition means that most sessions take place in person at my office and you commit to requesting an online lesson if your child has a cold, cough or other illness. For this reason, I only take on families happy to take some lessons online. Please consider this before requesting a space.

Online tuition takes place via Zoom and using Bitpaper online classroom software. I pride myself on providing high quality online sessions that are engaging, interactive and enable the child to fully participate. Each child is assigned their own Bitpaper, which acts as a permanent, secure 'exercise book', where all of their work is stored.

Parents are welcome to sit in on the first tuition session if they wish and will receive regular feedback on their child's progress.

I hold insurance for tutoring from home and am fully DBS checked.

My Results

Every year I am proud to help many students in their 11+ journey.

Before beginning your 11+ journey with me, I will assess your child and plan to enhance their strengths and help them gain knowledge and confidence in their weaker areas to ensure they are as 'exam ready' as possible.

Unlike some other tutors, I don't 'pre-select' and only take on students who are definitely able to pass, but I will give advice about whether 11+ is an appropriate goal and will only offer tuition if I feel it is in the child's best interests.

You can see my results below. These vary year by year according to the cohort. More importantly, my 11+ predictions are correct almost every time and I pride myself with being open and honest about likely outcomes with parents throughout the tuition journey.

Testimonials

Emma & Carl, Hildenborough

Becky provided additional 11+ tutoring for our son (2016-2017), specifically in Maths because he was struggling. There was a significant improvement in his confidence, approach and ability which was noted by his teacher at a parent’s evening. We are pleased to say he passed the 11+, and to our surprise Maths was his highest scoring area. On a personal level Becky made the tutoring sessions enjoyable. Our son always looked forward to them.

Mr and Mrs M, and our daughter A.

Rebecca provided a very positive learning environment which my daughter thrived in. Her positive attitude and wealth of teaching expertise helped my daughter to become very confident in areas where she was already good, but more importantly she gave my daughter confidence and developed her knowledge in those areas where she was not as strong or that were completely new.

Mrs G, Tonbridge

I am very happy to be able to confirm that he enjoyed your lessons and was always motivated and enthusiastic.
With your help, he passed the test with a good score and was offered a place at his first choice of school.

Mrs H, Edenbridge

‘Mrs Corden’s 11+ tutoring with our son to improve his self confidence in areas where he needed improvement was particularly impactful and motivated him to progress during the assignments and past papers that she selected.  We highly recommend her services.’

Mr T, Tonbridge

Becky has been an amazing tutor for our child over the last few years. Attending her sessions was always a treat and never a chore. Becky has achieved that rare feat of making learning fun; as a result, our son has gone from strength to strength, improving his knowledge, ability and confidence.
We can't thank you enough for helping him achieve his goal of passing the Kent Test (11+) and getting into the secondary school that he wanted.

Mr & Mrs Duesbury

We’re so grateful to Becky for her 11+ tuition: she’s an amazing teacher and our son thrived with her help.
Her patience and whole positive attitude to learning kept him grounded and serene, and I do believe that made a big difference to how he experienced the test.
She always showed empathy and was unfailingly helpful – I recommend her without hesitation.

An 11 plus parent

Becky was fully booked but managed to fit my daughter in for ad hoc sessions, afternoons, eves, holidays. Each session was so well planned and delivered, including homework.

No stone was left unturned, Becky went through Maths, Reasoning, English and spatial in detail, spending extra time on weaker areas.

Becky is knowledgeable, kind and caring putting 100 percent in to each session. Thankyou so much Becky.

Mrs James

Becky was a fabulous tutor for our daughter. She very quickly identified her area of weakness and worked not just on improving this but also building her overall confidence so that by the end of her time with Becky she was enjoying the subject at school too.

She made learning a lot of fun and our daughter looked forward to her lessons. We felt very lucky to have benefited from Becky’s expertise. She is a lovely lady.

Mrs S, Hildenborough

Becky was invaluable in helping us navigate the 11+ selection process with the result of our daughter being offered a place at her first choice of grammar school.
She planned each lesson so that it was tailor-made for our daughter's needs and gave us really useful advice about how to support preparation at home. We were really impressed by how impactful the online lessons were - so convenient too!
Our daughter attended 1:1 sessions and also the mock exams and revision sessions. All very worthwhile and thoughtfully planned.

Mr P, Sevenoaks

Rebecca supported my two sons with online lessons while we lived abroad and also once we had moved back to the UK.
She ensured they were up to date with the UK curriculum and able to hit the ground running when we returned to the UK to prepare for the Kent Test.
Both boys are now thriving at grammar school, thanks to the guidance and individual support provided by Rebecca. Thank you so much!

An 11+ parent, Tonbridge

My son thoroughly enjoyed tuition with Becky. No mean feat when tackling exam preparation! We were especially pleased with his progress in Maths, which had been his weakest subject at Christmas.
He successfully passed the Kent Test and will be attending his first choice of grammar school. Thank you for the guidance and support along the way, Becky!

Mrs S, Tunbridge Wells

Our daughter was struggling with completing 11+ preparation at home. Tuition with Rebecca meant the process became a lot less stressful and more productive. We attended weekly throughout the year with extra sessions in the holidays and were so pleased with her progress. The online sessions were really convenient for our family and so interactive!
She is now looking forward to attending our local grammar school thanks to Rebecca's help.
