About me:

I am Becky Corden, a fully qualified  teacher with over 20 years experience teaching children aged 4-16 in Kent Schools and other settings.

I gained leadership skills and expertise as a Maths Lead Teacher, NQT/ECT/Student teacher mentor and Key Stage Leader alongside my class teaching roles.

Private Tuition:

I am dedicated to ensuring that your child makes excellent progress and achieves their potential. I pride myself in helping children build skills and develop a resilient attitude to learning.

Every 1:1 session is tailor built for your child, to ensure they make excellent and sustained progress, while gaining confidence along the way. 

Group sessions are designed to cover key skills required for the 11+ and build confidence with exam technique.

I have a wealth of classroom experience in EYFS, Key Stage 1 and 2 and can offer tuition in Maths, English, Reasoning and Exam Techniques for 11+ and CAT4 tests.

I specialise in tuition for the Kent, Bexley and other GL areas for 11+ entry to secondary school. I also work with Key Stage 3 and 4 students wishing to take CAT4 tests or improve their understanding and build confidence in Maths up to GCSE foundation level.

Holiday tuition for 11+, CAT4, GCSE Maths, mock 11+ exam and 11+ revision workshops are also available.

Learning format and parental involvement:

Currently based near Hildenborough in Kent, I run revision courses and mock exams for year 5 students in the school holidays as well as offering 1:1 and small group tuition during term time for 11+ (English, Maths and Reasoning), CAT4 reasoning and Key Stage 3/GCSE Maths.

Weekly 1:1 tuition and my 11+ preparation groups take place via Zoom using Bitpaper online classroom software. I pride myself on providing high quality online sessions that are engaging, interactive and enable the child to fully participate. Each 1:1 student is assigned their own Bitpaper, which acts as a permanent, secure 'exercise book', where all of their work is stored and we can work collaboratively for maximum progress and confidence building.

Parents will receive regular feedback on their child's progress in the form of weekly lesson notes and all lessons include homework tasks. 

Revision courses and mock exams take place in the school holidays and are run face to face near Hildenborough, Kent.

I hold insurance for tutoring from home and am fully DBS checked.

Fees for weekly term time tuition:

  • Online 1:1 tuition 55 minutes - £48 
  • Online 1:1 tuition 50 minutes - £46 (Holidays and adhoc only)
  • Small group online tuition 55 minutes - £24. Min 2 students, max 5.
Payments are due termly in advance (see term dates and terms and conditions).

All weekly term time tuition sessions include homework for each session attended and written feedback/lesson notes. 

All 11+ students are given access to my online resource bank and the West Kent Tutor 11 plus vocabulary course.

My Results 

 
Every year I am proud to help many students in their 11+ journey.

Before beginning your 11+ journey with me, I will assess your child and plan to enhance their strengths and help them gain knowledge and confidence in their weaker areas to ensure they are as 'exam ready' as possible. 

Unlike some other tutors, I don't 'pre-select' and only take on students who are definitely able to pass. I assess children before they start tuition so I can give advice about whether 11+ is an appropriate goal and will only offer tuition if I feel it is in the child's best interests.

You can see my results below. You'll notice that these vary year by year according to the cohort. More importantly, my 11+ predictions are correct almost every time and I pride myself with being open and honest about likely outcomes with parents throughout the tuition journey.
